Grace Baptist Church in Taipei traces its roots back to the 1950s, beginning as a small English Bible study group founded by American missionary Inabelle Coleman. As participation grew, the first chapel was built in 1955, and later, a new church was completed in 1984 to accommodate the expanding congregation.
Over the years, Grace Baptist Church has offered worship services in Mandarin, Taiwanese, English, and bilingual formats. Zhongshan Christian Presbyterian Church is located near Taipei MRT’s Zhongshan Station. Its architecture blends Gothic influences with Christian symbolism, such as a prominent cross. The interior is bright and spacious, while the exterior exudes a solemn dignity. On Sundays and during weekly small groups, congregants gather to share testimonies, support one another, and study the truths of the Bible. During Christmas, the church decorates its exterior with lights and nativity scenes, drawing the attention of passersby.
Inside the church, a cross bearing an inscription from the Shōwa era (Japanese rule) remains—a symbol of the church’s enduring presence through time. Actively engaging in urban ministry, the church often hosts gospel concerts and outreach events in nearby shopping districts, bringing Christ’s love into the heart of the city.

The sanctuary was designed by renowned Japanese colonial-era architect Ide Kaoru, and it remains the only church in Taiwan with traditional fish-scale roof tiles.
On Sundays, hymns and organ melodies echo through the air, while Holy Communion and prayer services bring a deep sense of peace. During Christmas and Easter, joyful carols and festive lights illuminate the church with warmth and celebration. Dadaocheng Branch of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan
The Dadaocheng Branch of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, part of the Taiwan Presbyterian Church, was originally established as the Dalongdong Church by Dr. George Leslie Mackay. After suffering damage and undergoing reconstruction, it was relocated to its current site thanks to land donated by Li Chun-sheng, known as the "Father of Taiwan Tea."
The church’s architecture features the grandeur of Western-style churches, while also incorporating traditional Taiwanese decorative motifs in its pebble-stone facade—an elegant fusion of cultures. Its red-brick construction echoes the style of other historic buildings in Dadaocheng. Inside, the high-ceilinged layout, grand pipe organ, and preserved historic details speak to the evolution of both the church and Taiwanese society.
Each Sunday, long-time members and local residents make their way through narrow alleys to gather here for worship and hymn singing, continuing a legacy of faith and community that has been part of Taipei’s urban history for over a century.
